RALEY FAMILY FOUNDATION INVESTS $300,000 IN
THE SACRAMENTO PHILHARMONIC & OPERA
Nancy McRae Fisher Renews Pops! Season Underwriting

The Thomas P. Raley Foundation has invested $300,000 to support the Sacramento Philharmonic & Opera over the next three years. Thomas P. Raley was the founder of Raley’s Supermarkets, which also owns Bel Air Markets and Nob Hill Foods. The Thomas P. Raley Foundation and family have a long history of funding and expanding the arts in the Sacramento region.
“The Thomas P. Raley Foundation is delighted to support the artistic endeavors of the Sacramento Philharmonic & Opera,” said Joyce Raley Teel, the daughter of Thomas P. Raley, who serves as the co-chair of the foundation with her husband Jim Teel. “The leadership has shown great fiscal responsibility and artistic programming that is accessible to our community and we have faith in the organization.”
Upon its return to the stage in 2015, the Sacramento Philharmonic & Opera set new records for season subscriptions and single ticket sales, all while operating within budget. Audiences and donors are enthusiastically reinvesting to once again make the Sacramento Philharmonic & Opera a valued, viable asset and priority for the entire community.
“From our board to the staff and musicians, we are so grateful for the Thomas P. Raley Foundation’s continued support and sincere faith in our efforts. This past year we have demonstrated a path to sustainability and how vital the Sacramento Philharmonic & Opera is within the arts community in the Sacramento region. When the arts thrive, the benefits transcend beyond entertainment to education and community outreach initiatives. We’re here to stay, and it is wonderful that the Thomas P. Raley Foundation recognizes our efforts and accomplishments,” said Laurie Nelson, Sacramento Philharmonic & Opera board president.
“We are deeply appreciative to the Thomas P. Raley Foundation for its generous support and sincere faith in our efforts,” said Alice Sauro, Executive Director of the Sacramento Philharmonic & Opera. “This major gift is the first step of many in restoring the long-term health of the Sacramento Philharmonic & Opera. As such, we have positioned their $100,000 gift as a Challenge Grant, matching dollar-for-dollar all new and increased gifts from other individuals, companies, and foundations through December 31, 2016.” The 2016-17 season will be further supported by the generosity of Nancy McRae Fisher, who will underwrite the Pops! Series for the second year in a row.
“Last year was astonishing. The Pops! Series was not only fun but literally filled the house! They are continually breaking records, bringing in new audiences, and reinvigorating classical music in the region. I am thrilled to be a part of it again for the 2016-17 season,” said Fisher.
