Sophia Silvers, a coloratura soprano originally from Fair Oaks, California, recently completed her studies in Vocal Performance at CSU Sacramento, earning her Bachelor’s degree in December. Before transferring to Sacramento State, Sophia pursued her musical education at American River College.
During her time at CSU Sacramento, Sophia captivated audiences as the Königin der Nacht in Mozart’s Die Zauberflӧte, performed the soprano solo in Handel’s Messiah with Choral Union, and showcased her talent as a featured artist in the opening GALA Concert for the Festival of New American Music. Last summer, she participated in the young artist program Operation Opera, where she presented contemporary opera roles and premiered an art song composed specifically for her.
Sophia is overjoyed to make her professional operatic debut playing Ida in Die Fledermaus. Previous engagements with the Sacramento Philharmonic and Opera include the chorus in Puccini’s La Bohème and sharing the stage with Andrea Bocelli in May. Beyond opera, she sings with Camerata California and has previously lent her talents to ensembles such as Schola Cantorum at Sacred Heart Church and the Sacramento Master Singers.
Sophia’s dedication to her craft has garnered recognition in the past year, receiving awards from the Kristina Townsend, Robert S. Dinsmore, and Lucy Becker competitions. She also reached the second round of the Classical Singer competition and convention.
Beyond her academic and performance pursuits, Sophia extends her passion for music as a dedicated instructor, teaching voice, piano, and ukulele at Music Lab in Granite Bay and Rocklin.
