Sacramento-native Baritone, Charlie Baad, spent his childhood absorbing much of the Gilbert and Sullivan catalog via his parents and the Light Opera Theatre of Sacramento (LOTS). He went on to graduate from The Boston Conservatory of Music and has performed with Sacramento Opera, Sacramento Choral Society and Orchestra, Sarasota Opera, Virginia Opera, Anchorage Opera, Dayton Opera, Opera North, Quincy Symphony Orchestra, Boston Acadamy of Music, NY Metro Vocal Artists, Fiddlehead Theatre in Norwood, MA, and Bravo! Vancouver. Favorite roles include Don Giovanni, Count Almaviva Le Nozze di Figaro, Guglielmo Così fan Tutte, Papageno Die Zauberflöte, Schaunard La Boheme; Sid from Britten’s Albert Herring, Curly Oklahoma!, Harold Hill The Music Man. More recently back with LOTS: Lord Chancellor Iolanthe, Pirate King Pirates of Penzance, Bunthorne Patience, Giuseppe Gondoliers, Jack Point Yeomen of the Guard, J.W.Wells Sorcerer and Robin Oakapple Ruddigore. In addition to theater, Charlie has performed the baritone solos of many sacred works, including the Requiems of Fauré, Duruflé, and Brahms, Handel’s Messiah, and Orff’s Carmina Burana.
Changing focus later in life, Charlie has been a Registered Nurse for 14 years, and is currently providing Humankindness at Mercy San Juan Medical Center on the Trauma Med-Surg unit.
