Reviewed in the Huffington Post as a “breakout star” and “powerhouse lyric tenor”, Dominick Chenes’ engagements this season include joining the Metropolitan Opera for Tosca, his role debut as Canio in I Pagliacci for the Sacramento Philharmonic, and a return to the Lyric Opera of Chicago for Don Carlos (cover). Future engagements include his debut with Oper Leipzig for Pollione in Norma, a role he recently sang for Musica Viva Hong Kong, and his debut with Boston Lyric Opera as Pinkerton in Madame Butterfly.
Recent engagements include debuts with Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège as Pinkerton in Madame Butterfly, Alfredo in La Traviata for Tokyo New National Theatre, Cavaradossi in Tosca for Seattle Opera, Cavaradossi (cover) for the San Francisco Opera and Lyric Opera of Chicago, Don Jose in Carmen for Palm Beach Opera, Las Vegas Opera, Verdi’s Requiem for the Reading Symphony, Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly for Seattle Opera, Austin Lyric Opera, and the Lyric Opera of Chicago (cover), Turiddu in Cavalleria Rusticana for New Orleans Opera, Carlo in I Masnadieri conducted by Maestro Roberto Abbado for the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia, Cavaradossi with the Reading Symphony, and Adoniran in La Reine de Saba with Odyssey Opera.
He has performed Alfredo in La Traviata at the Pa Skaret Opera Festival in Sweden, Riccardo in Un Ballo in Maschera with Austin Lyric Opera, debuted Grand Theatre de Genevre as Lopas in Les Troyens with Maestro Dutoit, Cavaradossi in Tosca with the Minnesota Opera, and Rodolfo in La Boheme with Opera Colorado, Musica Viva Hong Kong, and the Welsh National Opera.
Dominick was awarded second prize from the Gerda Lissner Foundation, third prize from the Mario Lanza Competition and a Grant from the Licia Albanese-Puccini Foundation. He was also a finalist in the Meistersinger Competition in Graz Austria.
