The Sacramento Philharmonic & Opera has finished its 2015-2016 Resurrection Season having sold out two concerts and nearly four. This past weekend’s season finale, featuring Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, was the second to sell out this season, following the final Pops concert, Salute to John Williams.
According to our records, the Sacramento Philharmonic & Opera hasn’t sold to capacity since at least 2000. “We are so pleased and grateful to our patrons,” said Alice Sauro, Executive Director of the Sacramento Philharmonic & Opera. “To achieve this not once but twice AND to break another record shows Sacramento’s desire to have a professional philharmonic and opera in its city.”
In its return season this year, the Sacramento Philharmonic & Opera has surpassed subscription records, ticket sale records, and instituted a live tweeting program.
“We are really doing something different here,” said Laurie Nelson, Sacramento Philharmonic & Opera Board President. “Ticket sales are at their highest in over a decade, we are selling out multiple concerts in one season, and we are reaching a broader and more diversified demographic. Just wait until next year!”
The Sacramento Philharmonic & Opera recently announced its 2016-2017 season which will feature the return of opera with Verdi’s La Traviata.
