The Sacramento Philharmonic & Opera is pleased to announce its 16-17 season for both its Classics Series as well as its Pops Series. The SP&O returns in the fall of 2016 with Tchaikovsky’s Fifth Symphony and Britten’s Violin Concerto featuring world-renowned violinist, Karen Gomyo on Saturday, October 8, 2016. The six-performance season concludes on April 29, 2017 with the much anticipated and awaited return of opera.
The SP&O will deliver a one night only performance of La Traviata featuring newly minted conductor of the Tucson Symphony, Jose-Luis Gomez. “We have been eagerly awaiting the return of opera,” said executive director, Alice Sauro, “We cannot wait for the audience to experience it again with us.”
The Pops Series will open on November 26, 2016 with “Classical Mystery Tour,”: tribute to the Beatles featuring members of the original cast of Broadway’s Beatlemania and will conclude with A Beach Boys Celebration on April 8, 2017.
Patrons will still find ticket pricing rolled back to 2003 levels – with an average savings of 50% – all part of the SP&O continued innovation in “Patron-Centric Pricing.”
The SP&O will also continue their nationally recognized live tweeting program for each performance.
